\\ CARE GUIDE
You're the proud owner of a pair of NOSKINS.
Now what?
HOW TO //
Shoes are meant to be lived in and NOSKIN is no different.
We want your shoes to have longevity and be worn for as long as possible, let's get stuck in.
Caring for your shoes isn’t meant to be a chore and it’s the last thing you want to be doing. Believe us, we’d rather be at the pub or the cafe instead of spending hours keeping our booties clean.
Our care guide is simple, straightforward and can be done in less time than it takes you to wait in line for a table on a Saturday morning during peak brunch service.
- Find a space that you don’t mind getting dirty, we always hit up the laundry or go outside for this. Get yourself a microfibre cloth, some warm water and a shoe brush if you have one. Don’t have a shoe brush? That’s cool, an old toothbrush works just fine.
You’ll want to remove any of the built up mud or dirt from your shoes by gently tapping them against a hard surface, take your brush and give it a once over to really remove the caked up mud from the grooves. Get your microfibre cloth and give it a once over with warm water. Leave them to dry or pat them down with a dry towel. - This is specific to our shoes with laces. Take them off of the shoes and place them in warm water. You can add a little bit of eco-friendly detergent to this bowl if you’d like but it’s not a requirement. Let your laces soak or give them a gentle scrub and then rise them off and let them dry. That’s it. That’s the step.
- Grab your favourite vegan balm and apply it with a dry microfiber cloth. This will ensure that you’re not scratching your shoes or creating any new damage, it also is the most mess-free way. You can also use a spray if you have it. All of our shoes are designed to be weatherproof and have battled all the elements across the world, so they’re already hot to go, but you can add a waterproof protectant if you feel like your shoes need a little extra love. Once your shoes and laces are dried, marry them back together and you’re ready to rock and roll.
Told you we want to keep it simple and waste no time, work smarter, not harder. Your shoes will thank you for it.
Some of our recommendations for balms are:
Solovair Vegan Renovating Cream
Nae Eco Polish Cream - they make both clear and black.
Coconut oil - yep, the kind from the supermarket. We recommend getting the one in the jar and using less than you would think. A teaspoon size is more than enough!
Here are 3 extra tips to help make the most of your footwear and ensure that you’ll be livin’ large in NOSKIN for years to come.
Put them on rotation
Some of us will wear the same pair of shoes every single day - and let’s be honest, that’s for good reason, they look slick as hell and go with everything. But that doesn’t mean it’s the best thing for your shoes.
Our best advice is to rotate your NOSKIN’s throughout the year, swap your Loafers for a pair of Chelsea Boots every now and then, and spice up your outfits. Not only does this preserve your shoes, it also allows you to shop your own wardrobe and create new fits every week. Now that is sustainable and sexy.
Wet? Make ‘em dry.
This might be obvious to you, but sometimes we do get sent damp shoes post-festival. If your shoes are staying damp, they’re not going to last, they need to breathe and dry out as much as possible - especially if you’re getting them repaired.
Undo the laces and let them dry out in an airy space if you have one, we keep ours out of the weather and somewhere room temperature. This means they have the best chance to recover from all the stomping around and return back to their natural state, it also allows them to be repaired if they’re getting holey - which brings us onto our next point.
Holes? TAKE ‘EM OFF.
Don’t walk around with holes in your shoes, not only is it uncomfortable but it also makes them harder to repair once they’re handed over to us. The larger the hole, the larger the cost of repair. It can be hard to part with your boots once you’re used to living in them, but trust us, it’s better for both of you to separate, just for a little while.
